Why Santa Rosa?

The Hyatt Vineyard Creek in Santa Rosa, CA was chosen for many reasons.  First and foremost, we strive to hold our meetings in all the different regions of our Section, as these meetings always invigorate and strengthen the local Chapters.  For 2018, we wanted to pick a meeting spot in northern California that is easy for the North Coast Chapter members to attend.   (FYI:  The Santa Rosa Hyatt is the most northerly option with meeting space that fits our group.  We will no longer fit in Redding now that our attendance regularly tops 600+ people per meeting.)   Second, this hotel offers us extensive meeting space at no cost to the Section in exchange for the hotel rooms our attendees will book.  (And the hotel rooms were all recently renovated, which is a plus, too.)  Finally, we really like the walkable downtown area near the hotel and we hope you will enjoy wandering and exploring the Santa Rosa Historic Railroad District during the lunches and breaks throughout the week of the meeting.

While we’d like to return to Sacramento for an Annual Meeting, currently there is no affordable option for our group, as attendance at our meetings has grown over the past few years.  We no longer fit in the meeting space at the Sacramento Doubletree or Sacramento Grand Sheraton, the Sacramento Hyatt is too expensive, and the Convention Center is set to be closed in 2020 for remodeling.  We continue to tour Sacramento properties and will return there as soon as possible.
Our 2019 meeting will be held in Fish Camp, CA at the Tenaya Lodge in Yosemite (February 4-8, 2019), and we are just starting to research options for our 2020 meeting.  Let us know if you’d like to help with this process!
